Online Course with Vimalasara

Mindfulness Based Addiction Recovery MBAR is a mindfulness-based approach to promoting recovery from addiction and understanding relapse. Originally called mindfulness-based relapse prevention (MBRP), the course was developed by Dr. Paramabandhu Groves (in collaboration with Valerie Mason-John).

This is a secular Mindfulness Course for anyone who has behaviour that is substance related or not, that brings temporary pleasure or relief. Or where one craves, acts out of the craving, and is unable to stop despite negative consequences. This course is also for professionals working in the field of addiction, and who would like to understand addiction through the Mindfulness lens, and may want to go onto do MBAR the train the trainer course that is delivered internationally.

Every week during the month of July, there will be a pre-recorded session, with suggestions of homework. There will also be an interactive session each week with Vimalasara, aka Valerie Mason-John, where you can speak with her online, ask questions, and explore each session in more detail.

All interactive session will be recorded too – so if you are unable to make them you can log on at another time.

ABOUT VIMALASARA : Valerie Mason-John, aka ‘Vimalasara’, works in the field of secular Mindfulness, and is the co-designer of the MBAR course. She is the author of 8 books including Detox Your Heart, working with anger, fear and hatred, new edition published by Wisdom books 2017, and the co-author of the award winning book Eight Step Recovery – Using The Buddha’s Teachings to Overcome Addiction. She is one of few African Descent speakers and teachers leading in the field of Addiction and Mindfulness. She speaks and trains internationally on the theme.

She is also the co-designer of MBAR Train the Trainer, and this year it has already been delivered in Canada. In October 2016 it will be delivered in the UK, and in early December it will be delivered in Finland.
